There is a US WU skill ;)
https://www.amazon.com/Personal-Weather-Underground-PWS/dp/B07234WJ9B

That's not going to work anymore since WU stopped distribution of free API keys. They said they will soon resume or come up with an API for personal use but that hasn't happened and we dont know when soon is.

Rats!  My timing is terrible as usual.  A day late and a dollar short.

I didn't even know that WU had a forum!  :o

Have you tried the skill, has the api been shut down already then, thought it was February?
Kind regards

Goodness gracious, what is not to like about http://www.komokaweather.com/weather/davconvp2CU.php
And if I had a touch screen laptop it would even be easier to click the buttons ;)

Ok, maybe you don't like that one, then how about http://www.komokaweather.com/weather/davconvueCU.php

Enjoy,
Paul
I missed this the first time past it. I like it!

Yep shut down of existing API keys was originally scheduled for December 31, 2018, but it was extended to February 15, 2019. But that is only for existing API keys. If you want a key today they aren't issuing new ones.

Another way to get Davis unit connected to Amazon Alexa is to wait for the new WeatherLink Live coming out soon.

I bought a snazzy Acurite station with the cool TFT display for Christmas.  It took me 30 seconds to have the data reporting to the Web when I opened it.  The entire station (sensor suite plus console) cost me $80 bucks on the Black Friday sale.  I can read the display from any place in the room or adjacent rooms day or night.

Having said that, I find myself continuing to use my old VP2 for records keeping.  I like how the Davis console will display daily data for many days backward if I don't update my records for a while.  I like how the Davis displays rainfall data also.  I like how the Davis updates wind speed every couple of seconds and never misses gusts during storms.

Also, the Davis station is nearly 12 years old now and it just simply works.  It doesn't matter what the weather does, or whether I neglect to clean it or not, the entire thing just works.  Year after year after year.

I think with Davis, it really is about quality.  With the others, it's about appearance.  Each have their place.

In the real world of weather this Alexa thing is more of a gimmick, luckily there are real systems without this crap.

As mentioned in other threads, WU is now issuing new API keys with a new API set. Just thought I'd mention it hear in case someone was following this thread.

Please do tell us how you feel. Why is Alexa crap? Some people have a weather station without a display at all and they only view online or in other software. Other people value the display and couldn't care less about online data. Having voice control and audio announcement of weather data that would be equivalent to  the data on the screen is just another method to get the data. Different methods for different wants or needs. I say needs, because just imagine how fortunate blind people can be to have this type of technology. It isn't just for blind people though. I find it useful when I'm not in the room with my weather display but I have Alexa around the house. How is that a gimmick?
