Internet updates not working properly
« on: August 15, 2007, 08:46:16 AM »
Anyone ever seen this:

Internet options are set up to generate 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month graphs. The files are only stored locally. WL runs the profiles and generates the graphs and reports ok but the data only goes to 08/09. Nothing past there ever shows up in the graphs.

Current data is displaying properly and the plots and graphs within WL look just fine as well. It's only the data being generated by the internet profiles that is messed up.

The trigger for this was an upgrade from 5.5.1 to 5.7.1 I went back to 5.5.1 and still have the same problem. System restored back to before the 5.7.1 install and have the same problem. I've verified the files are going where they are supposed to go and that they are being currently generated (ie I'm not looking at stale images).

Any ideas before I resort to a complete wipe and reinstall of WL?

Have you looked for bad records in the WL database?

Yes. Nothing obvious, though admittedly it was just a cursery look.

Just a shot in the dark but since the problem started with the update and you are sending them to local might double check the path in Internet settings for local make sure it didn't change and you're looking at the right graphs:

Also make sure "Local" is enabled

Already did that. In fact I deleted all the existing files to see if they would be recreated in the proper place and they were.

Odd one for sure. How bout enabling FTP also and have them sent to some temp directory on your server see what happens.

Appears to be fixed. Still need a bit of time to be sure but my five minute profile seems to be updating now and my 15 just updated as well.

Here's what I did to fix it:

Unistalled WL 5.5.1 (5.7.1 was already uninstalled from the previously performed system restore).

Reinstalled 5.5.1 into a new path under Program Files (Program Files\Weatherlink).
Installed 5.7.1 into a new and different path under Program Files (Program Files\Weatherlink571).
Copied station data from old install directory.
Reset the path for StartWatch.
Restarted machine.
All is well.

I've got a big hole in my WL data but at least it's working.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Now the data isn't being recorded into the database for some reason. I got two records but that was it.

This time it really seems to be fixed

I toggled the archive interval to 10 minutes and then back to 5 and I've had a solid hour of updates now.

If nothing else, I got my installation where I want it. At some point I have to tackle doing the same with WD.

I'll have to see if it's going to survive over a restart tonight.

Oooh... when I changed directories for WeatherLink (a few versions ago), I had to go into my station-name directory and check the TemplateList.txt and UploadList.txt files .. saw the old directory was there, so redid the customization in the internet settings panel.

Check your ProfileN.lst (in notepad) for the same info.

WeatherLink doesn't like being reinstalled/moved to another directory.  Took a bit of twiddling to get it right.

Best regards,
Ken
