So far so good.   Here it is 12:43pm and my last reboot was @ 12:17am this morning - I made the change to a "static IP' ~4:45am this morning and everthing is humming right along 12 and 1/2 hours after the last reboot.

As mentioned by Lite earlier, I also have a wireless laptop and a desk top computer. So far both are working with no problem.

Dalecoy you are correct, my WLIP address is not set to the same address that was seen on  http://www.whatismyip.com/ . It is not even close. You are correct, my WLIP is something like 192.168.1.4

Lite & Schoolhouse Glad to hear that it's been 24hrs and counting for you. I too am keeping my fingers crossed that this will continue with no future hiccups.

Will keep you all updated.

Thanks for every ones help with this problem. Now if Davis can correct the problem on there end then all will be right with the world

The one thing I did notice is that the last # in my dynamic IP (I still can't believe I even know what that is  ) seems to be addressed to the port my WLIP is connected to. I tried fooling around by typing my IP address with different last #'s and the # 1 actually brought me to the admin page for my fios , or more precisely the log in page to it.

But, just to make sure I understand - you are not saying that your WLIP is set to the same address that you see with http://www.whatismyip.com/, are you?  I presume the WLIP is something like 192.168.1.4.
That is correct my WLIP is set to 192.168.1.5

Are we sure that this isn't some quirk to do with a particular make/model of router, maybe as supplied pre-configured by some particular ISP/network?

I think I can make out (on the weatherlink.com map) somewhere around 1000 WLIP stations in N America alone, never mind probably another 1000 or more in the rest of the world. The vast majority of these are presumably updating month after month without a problem on standard (dynamic) DHCP settings.

So I'm not sure I read this as a Davis problem, unless it's something specifically to do with the v1.07 firmware (which probably won't be loaded as yet into the majority of WLIP loggers). Sure, if Davis can tweak the firmware to accommodate whatever quirk these routers' DHCP server is throwing at them then that's a bonus point for Davis and it's probably also a sensible move for Davis to try, simply to reduce any difficulties that new users might experience to an absolute minimum. But I'm unconvinced that it is at heart a Davis problem - unless, as I say, it's an issue with the relatively new v1.07 firmware

Sorry, but I don't usually have time to help with individual issues by email unless you are a Prodata customer. Please post your issue in the relevant forum section here & I will comment there if I have anything useful to add.

No, we are not.  So far it's only the Actiontec wireless modem/router supplied by Verizon on FIOS service.

...with which WLIP doesn't work properly.

A brief Google search didn't turn up any other significant complaints about that Actiontec and/or Verizon FIOS setup.

Who needs to investigate and either fix the problem or advise their customers how to fix it?

Davis sent me this today in regards to my email about this problem

Login to your WeatherLink IP account; then click on MY ACCOUNT, to that you can check the firmware revision of your datalogger.

If it says your firmware is version 1.07, then visit this link & follow the instructions to update your firmware to version 1.08 BETA:

http://toolbox.davisnet.com/downloads/Weather/firmware/wlip/WeatherLinkIP_108_BETA/

I believe this will prevent the lockups you are experiencing.

Well, it has been a week now and everything is humming right along wit no hiccups.  Hopefully it will continue.

Lite I saw your post.

Sorry it did not work for you.

I am not going to attempt anything until I am sure this issue is corrected.  It is a Beta version - so maybe they do not have all the bugs worked out of the update???

Did you go back to the "static" IP that seems to work?

At least Davis is working on the problem

Keep us updated.

Yes I rebooted everything this AM and went back to the "static" address that has worked so well so far. I sent Davis an email telling them that the firmware update did not work. I was a little sceptical over the Beta version but I figured I'd give it a shot.
