I have a lot of barometers but have never been able to find a "Stick". Would give a pretty penny for one but would have to go get it since you can't ship Mercury anymore. The rarest barometer I have is a Mechanism LTD. Precision Aneroid Barometer Type M1991. Neat toy!

Have but don't use the Sling Psychrometer. Instead use a Instruments For Industry Psychro-Dyne.

The power plant I worked at 36 years had a very similar barometer on the control room wall. We actually stopped using it some 15-20 years ago for the computerized version.

I had the old sling psychometer but it has a broken thermometer from a "slinging mishap". This happened back in the days before HazMat teams would be called for the mercury spill... 

It took a while to get the knack to start it going and to stop it as I recall.

Have used them both including a fan-aspirated psychrometer.    Have a hand held sling now for comparison/backup readings but the newer digital ones are much easier to read.

I purchased a digital without the fan and found you still need good air flow for accuracy. So I find myself slinging it also

Funny, I used the sling in 8th grade science class. My teacher was a big weather buff and he was instrumental on starting my path of becoming a weather enthusiast. He was by far my favorite teacher.

I have the sling psychrometer and the mercurial barometer.  I removed the mercury 20 years ago and turned it over to a chemistry professor for disposal.

Sorry, but that one made me We had someone that did the same thing and we never let them live it down. It happens... Kids back then played with the stuff...Glad I only came in contact with it once...

Used the old sling for setting up HVAC units aboard ships. Was an way of checking the systems instruments against what was happening in the room.

I often get asked about the Princo on how to set it and how to take a pressure reading. It's not the easiest thing to use and it can get confusing. I made a video that shows how to do all this. I use the Princo at home to check my other barometers since the Princo is NIST certified. In this video I'm checking the calibration of my Vaisala HB-1A barometer.
