Ecowitt GW1000 + WeeWx - missing something
« on: May 20, 2020, 10:16:13 PM »
I'm sure I am missing something obvious but can't figure it out.

My setup
WS-2902A
Ecowitt GW1000
rPi3 running weewx w/ weewx-Interceptor

I am unable to see data when I run interceptor in debug mode at the command line (combined with no data in the database when I have weewx running)

To ensure the the Ecowitt is in fact getting data from the WS2902A I've set up a "dummy" account at Wunderground and used those station credentials to send data from the WSView software. Verified against my actual "live" Wunderground account that I'm using to feed data back to my Home Assistant install.

When I run the interceptor manually at the command line with device=observer I get only the following:
Code: [Select]
raw packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026146}
mapped packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026146}
raw data:
raw packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026207}
mapped packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026207}
raw data:
raw packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026268}
mapped packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026268}
raw data:
raw packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026329}
mapped packet: {'usUnits': 16, 'dateTime': 1590026329}

Same holds true for when I run it as --device=wu-client (tried out of desperation)

WS View is set as Wundergroup under Customized.

I do start seeing weather data in debug mode when I run it as --device=ecowitt-client and switching the protocol type in WS View Ecowitt but I was really hoping to use the WU protocol.

Any help would be appreciated.

Weewx was installed using the setup.py method (if that makes any difference)

What would you gain by running in WU mode?
