Weather Station Hardware > What Weather Station Should I Buy?
Northern Nevada, ECOWITT Wittboy Pro Weather Station HP2564
(1/1)
subw:
I am wanting to buy my first weather station. I am leaning towards the ECOWITT Wittboy Pro HP2564 (HP2560 Console and WS90 Sensor): https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-ECOWITT-Wittboy-Supports-WeatherCloud/dp/B0BM3BQ425/
I am a former mechanical engineer, coder, computer builder, CNC programmer, and am generally strong with tech.
My location is Carson City, Nevada, USA. The weather station elevation will be ~4,900ft / ~1490m. The climate here is similar to California in terms of rainfall (no rain for ~6 months), and there are seasonal wind gusts that can be strong at times (as high as ~65 mph / ~105 kph). The wind may have an impact on the haptic rain sensor of the WS90, so I plan to use a strong mounting approach. It snows here, but melts off very quickly in general.
For mounting, I am thinking of attaching a 3/4" galvanized steel pipe, which has a 1 inch O.D., bolted to the 4"x6" pressure treated fence post shown on the right in the attached photo. My fence climbs a small hillside on the right side. This will give me higher elevation and should be within the transmission range of the WS90.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you!

I can recommend Ecowitt products.
Their customer support is also excellent.
You can find a lot more information on their products and configurations in the Wiki:

Also the online Ecowitt shop:

At least with the WS90 you won't have a fence shaking in the wind to cause erroneous rain readings due to a shaking fence.
