The governor of Oklahoma is still letting cities decide for themselves if a shutdown of anything is warrented, so you have this statement coming from Ponca City, even though 2 cases have been reported in their county:

"The City of Stillwater made the announcement on Tuesday that all bars, restaurants and fitness facilities would be closed until further notice.
Ponca City Mayor Homer Nicholson said he would not do the same in Ponca City. “We are not going to do that at this time,” he said. “My belief is that Stillwater did this due to the fact that they are a college city with thousands of students that frequent restaurants and bars.”

“I continue to urge the public to be cautious, wash your hands, keep your distance and our plan in Ponca City is to maintain business as usual and try to maintain a comfort level so that no pandemonium happens.”

“We will not do what the City of Stillwater has done unless there is a reason to do so here in Ponca City.”

Governor No-No has just ordered the State of NY to prohibit employers from having ANY employees working away from home, except in critical jobs that are spelled out.  He had WFH at 50% two days ago, raised it to 75% yesterday, and now it is 100% WFH or else.

I was out a little while ago running a critical errand, and some idiot came in the door where I was and crowded up less than a foot behind me in line.  I made a violent step sideways, to give him the hint.  About 30 seconds later, he invaded my social distancing bubble a second time and I stepped back violently again to give him another hint.  Maybe I should have coughed in his direction without covering my mouth to deliver the hint?????

Most doubted the numbers coming out of China were real because reports from eyewitnesses were 10's of thousands had actually died. Funeral homes around Wuhan alone were handling 2-3,000 bodies a day during the peak and there were 13 different funeral homes in the city.

40 miles.  Doubt that distance manners much, since drive up and curbside food service still allowed in Stillwater.   The only casino in the county, 10 miles away, closed since March 18.  I don't believe all casinos in Oklahoma have chosen to close.  Rumor has it the governor may decide to go with what some state cities are doing and order a statewide shutdown.

Stillwater Regional Hospital has released info that its COVID-19 patient is a resident of Kay County, has no connection to OSU or public school systems, was exposed by family members who had traveled out of state and that the patient is in good condition.   Ponca City is the biggest town in Kay County.

COVID-19 Patient No. 1 in the USA had recently returned from visiting family in Wuhan.  News of this was released on January 21.  He is in Washington state, one of the hardest hit states.

UK government has stated from tomorrow all pubs, bars, clubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms etc. etc. to close indefinitely - upto a year !

This directly effects the livelihood  of at least 18 million, mostly self employed and / or with leases.
Quite apart from the supply chain and any affect on morale.

the beteljuice suggests regardless of mortality rate, three months and "Vive La Revolution !"
Imagine what you will KNOW tomorrow !

from what I am seeing in a lot of countries is people are not taking it seriously enough
and thinking it won't happen to us
that is what Italy thought

with up to a 5 day incubation period and people able to spread it before they show symptoms, once its spreading in the community invisibly and silently
then you are going to see exponential growth in cases and deaths
which means in 3 weeks you have a collapse on your health system
all because people did not do their bit re social distancing etc early enough and when told to do so

the psychological part of this keep your distance.. here in turkey we dont drink tap water for the fear of stomach sickness if we do we boil it first sometimes twice.. however we always every two weeks order and have delivered fresh drinking water 2 x 20l containers.today our regular delivery guy turned up there was a moment my wife ,myself and he hesitated , someone we have come to know over the years he is a friendly guy ,it was uncomfortable and a little reminder of things to come . it wasn’t hesitant because of dislike or being unclean it was the psychological feeling of trying to adapt todo whats best for all.. even exchanging the money hands were hesitant... :-(

We have home delivery not sure how many are actually using it, nobody comes in the house all deliveries are left at front porch. Also, we wash hands or use disinfectant after touching anything including the mail along with any packaging with disinfectant wipes.
Luckily we have 2 stores that deliver groceries now and even one of the liquor stores is home delivering alcoholic beverages.

How long before deliveries stop ?

Just had an email from one of UK top utility providers - "Don't call for an engineer unless it's an emergency"

Of course the email also contained lots of information on how you could still pay them whilst in isolation / shutdown !

As long as we keep our air-traffic controllers, as we state in the profession, "on the boards".

UK - West Midlands

email received with less 24hr notice ..

Travel Advice

From next week you will still be able to get to where you need to go but you may need to change the time you normally travel.

    * The frequency of train services across the UK will reduce from Monday 23 March.

    * Most bus operators including National Express West Midlands (NXWM) will be reducing the frequency of bus services from Wednesday 25 March. No NXWM routes will be stopped at this stage, just made less frequent. The usual first, last and night services will remain in operation.

... and so on

It is already wearing a bit thin of edicts with very little notice.
Of course urgency of action is appreciated, but it is impossible to plan any travel or shopping or ...

It is a little alarming just what measures are being taken that didn't occur even in the blitz.
At the moment it is with the consensus of the people, but as time passes ???

Maybe if everyone heard the real death toll out of China it would convince more people to stay home. My best friend and wife were there with family during the Lunar year outbreak of February. They were stuck 2 weeks trying to get a flight out of Changsha.

They use an app called WeeChat and communicate between each other the estimates out of Wuhan alone was 20k a day dead and this may have gone on for months. The numbers communist China published are a joke. You can see that now with Italy surpassing China in deaths.

I know why these communist regimes are so tight lipped about disasters in their countries. It's because they don't want their people to know what is happening. The more they stay in the dark the more they control them. But how do you continually let people die just to keep the status quo?? Russia did the same thing with Chernobyl.  Just a sad commentary on the importance of peoples lives in these places. :-(
The numbers coming out of Italy are quite disturbing. Beginning to think shutting down all but essential services nationally is the way to go. Civil unrest could be a huge problem and the National Guard and the Army would most likely have to be deployed. I know that's radical but what other choice is there.

Our Government knows the deaths were much higher. They also had inside contacts and is most likely why they have taken these extraordinary steps.

The fact they are trying to get 100's of thousands of additional ventilators should tell us all something.

It just feels like a sci-fi movie. I can't believe this is happening. Every day I wake up thinking, "that was a bad dream," only to realize it isn't a bad dream, it is reality. It just seems so incredulous. If you had told me before all this went down that this could happen, I wouldn't believe you and I'd think you were some sort of conspiracy theorist.

This is a 9/11 moment in history. We will never be the same. We will get over it but many lessons have been learned. I think we will become less reliant on China. I think the handshake will go away forever. I never liked it anyway and I started fist bumping a few years ago, but now not even fist bumping is acceptable. I guess the elbow bump might be the thing, but we will have to see.

The FDA I suspect might implement changes to restaurants before they reopen, cleaning of tables, how silverware and plates are handled, self serve plastic utensil dispensers will go away (gross). Having a diverse investment portfolio might take on a different meaning (indispensable industry). Social distancing might remain a thing when waiting in line, waiting room seat placement, restaurant table proximity, and airplane seats cramped in like sardines and shared arm rests (that never made sense to me), other public transportation changes (busses). Will cruise ships ever recover as they already have a stigma of being Petri dishes?

So so so much more. How about dating? That first kiss is going to be so much harder to get, you'll feel like you scored just to hold hands. Well maybe not dating as the younger generation is not taking this seriously.

Starting to hear more talk of this being a manufactured biological weapon because it doesn't act like a normal virus.

Sheds rapidly without symtoms so spreads undetected:  Normal virus shows symptoms during shedding you have cough, congestion and other flu symptoms while shedding. (spreads)

Attacks those with the most mature immune system those with many years of built-up immunities and leaves those without many immunities alone. : Normal virus attacks those with the least immunities like the young or those very old with compromised immune systems.  I can attest to this I never get a flu shot and never catch the flu or cold anymore because I've had most versions of the strains going around.

That inside info and these senators and members of congress selling stock is pure BS!
Doesn't matter what side of the aisle, they all need to go.

Have you looked at NY State recently?  100% of non-essential businesses forced to WFH or close, National Guard deployed to testing sites and hospitals, Navy hospital ship inbound, Governor asking feds to have the Army Corps of Engineers build four temporary field hospitals, and also asking FEMA to deploy *four* of their 250-patient field hospitals into the huge trade show floor at the Javitz Convention Center.  Coming soon to a state near you.....
