E-Ink Weather Display

Looks interesting but I read that besides a slower refresh rate than LCDs e-paper has a burn in problem.

I have some e-readers with e-ink display from years and they works perfectly.

The refresh rate is very slow but the power consumption is very low, only when you change something in the image.

Maybe you will find them in some price tags.

The refresh rate makes it not useful to display weather information because it reduces real time weather from being shown. Using an o!d e-reader is not worth the hassle of hacking it either. Also burn in can be caused if the controller/driver's software is not configured to constantly supply a voltage and update the display..

This looks like a nice project really.

A display that is not being fed like Rapid Fire data will not need any fast refresh.

Would be perfect embedded into the kitchen cupboards.

Too bad I don't see just the HAT somewhere. I have two screens from Kindles that proc died. Building interface from scratch would be way too much work.

46 Euros excl. VAT is not bad.
