WS80 wind speed on dashboard tile doesn't match chart?
« on: May 18, 2022, 02:09:31 PM »
We're having some windy weather today so of course I am paying attention to my new WS80.

I noticed something that I don't understand... On the dashboard indicator, it shows a maximum wind speed of 21.2 MPH, and a max gust of 26.6 MPH. But when I look at the chart, the wind speed line is nowhere near 20 MPH at any point.

It seems like the dashboard tile and the chart are using different rules. I would expect if the tile says the top wind speed was X, I would see the yellow line in the chart touch X at some point, too.

I guess it's because the gauge is showing the maximum 1 minute average, but the chart is showing 5 minute averages.

That would explain it. Is that written down anywhere, or configurable?

Nope, and nope. I have had to figure out quite a bit of the Ecowitt wind speed handling myself. ](*,)
