Title: It Will Rain If....
Post by: Farmtalk on June 24, 2011, 05:10:08 PM
I got these from one of my favorite book series, "Foxfire":

It will rain:

within three days if the horns of the moon point down

If leaves show their backs

If cows are lying down in the pasture

If there is a ring around the moon. Count the stars in the ring and it will rain within that many days.

If the Sun sets with the clouds

Within three days if you see a black snake in a tree.

Had an old neighbor who used to say it would rain if a cat sleeps with it's nose pointed up.

If only that were true...I wouldn't be living in a desert anymore!

That's good to hear at least

I have never seen such a large area of land under the "exceptional" level of drought.

If you get your roof replaced on your house.  Got mine replaced yesterday, the got about 80% done and the bottom fell out for an hour.  Got 2/3" of rain in my gauge, but I know it rained more.

Man, bunch of rain there! If they were about 80% done you still should have been o.k. if they had all the felt (tar paper) laid out already. Just had to dry it out before going on. Luckily it wasn't exposed plywood when the gully washer came through.

I see the home builders have the houses rained on all the time.  Some at the frame stage, some at the almost dried in stage and various stages in between.  I have to guess from that not much harm is being done.

Im sure it would be pretty common for that to happen, one gully washer shouldnt cause too many problems
