Barometer data for FW2458 is very wrong
« on: August 14, 2020, 05:59:23 PM »
For some reason, I just noticed that my CWOP barometer data is very wrong. I am not sure why this is happening all of the sudden. It is displaying the incorrect values on all the sites that show MADIS stations (finds.com, PWS Weather, NOAA, Utah MesoWest). The values are running very high for some unknown reason. The barometer is correct on my Davis Vantage Pro2 console and the data appears to be correct on my Ambient WeatherBridge. I did have an internet outage due to Tropical Storm Isaias and I had to reset my meteobridge and reconfigure everything. I don't know how that would only be messing up my CWOP data, however. Is anyone else experiencing issues with their CWOP barometer data, or is it just me?

Log into the Meteobridge.
Then go to the Weather Station tab.
Scroll down and see what the Station Altitude is set for?

Whoops. I set that to 324 meters instead of feet. That explains a lot. Data is being reported normally again.

At least yours was an easy fix. Mine has been screwed up for years with no idea how to get it fixed. My station has no pressure or humidity sensors or any data sent for these, but everyone has the worst data shown ever.
Station ID cw8399 if anyone wants to look

I think you are about 10 years overdue for a station upgrade out of that Weather Wizard III.
There is nothing to fix. Literally with no humidity and no pressure sensor. The sensors that you do have...well eh.. Ummm... yeah the whole thing needs to go into a museum. You darn squeezed all that it had out and you got your money's worth out of that station.

Time for a new station bud. A Davis VP2 is going to make a dent in your wallet, but you could also get an Ambient or Ecowitt and end up quite happy for a more modest cost. Let us know if you need more help selecting the right system as there are many options.

Yeah I know it’s old but at my age and length of time planned in this location, a new one is not in the picture. It used to be fine until some update along the way added out of this world numbers to the mix.
If necessary I will just quit uploading and use it for my info only.

For $169 you can have a decent weather station with the all the basic set of sensors. It is easy to install because it is wireless. It will upload to Weather Underground and to a few more services. The station is also expandable so you can add extra sensors and even displays which you can do later. You can also add software to allow you to upload to more online services. Even if you later move it shouldn't be that difficult to take it with you.

Ecowitt GW1002 $169 (and there is currently a 5% discount on top of this)
