Web hosts
« on: March 03, 2017, 08:43:41 PM »
So my site has been down for almost 2 days. I was on 1and1, but after a day and a half of an internal 500 error on their end I moved to godaddy. Now godaddy has a ftp issue that they cant seem to figure out and have no idea when the issue will be resolved.

So besides them 2 hosts, anyone have any recommendations on a good host?

Thanks

more expensive hostings all run 100% on SSD disks with guaranteed 99.99% availabliity

Last yr they had 2 days outage and as a compensation I got 3 months for free

Very recently switched a fellow weather hobbyist from GoDaddy to ICDSoft because of said FTP issues. They are very limiting on their concurrent FTP connections.

Most issues right now is finding a host to talk on the phone with, most are either chat or email. I have 2 domain names at 2 different places and chatting or emailing about that can be difficult.

Same exact site.

http://www.pair.com Not the cheapest but I've hosted sites with them for close to 20 years. I can count on one hand the times there have been system wide outages.

I've used ICD since before 2004 (that's the earliest saved email I can find right now).  Don't do much web stuff anymore, but I still like their email  hosting.  I have multiple email addresses set up and use them for all sorts of things, so I don't want to cancel ... yet.  I might have to though since it's not necessarily cost efficient for that use only.

I've been with GoDaddy for close to 15 years and generally have had good success. I have had a few FTP issues, but every time it traced back to the local ISP. I use CuteFTP on both sites, here and in MX.

Was on IXWebhosting for 4 years. They price hiked on me, so I went looking around.

I joined Bluehost. I went with the 3 year plan and paid $109 (About $3/month).

It's been great so far, though admittedly, I've only had them for 2 months.

1and1 is back up for me,  but will still be moving.  Thanks for the options.
