VWS Help
« on: June 25, 2019, 09:21:33 AM »
A few weeks ago I purchased the Ambient 2902.   It works great, however, I am trying to set it up for APRS so that my weather station can be seen on APRS.fi.   I obtained a cwop number and tried yesterday to set up the VWS software.  I really need some help.

In the software setup there is no cvs dbase file so the button is red, that is my first issue.  Second how do I get my weather information from my 2902 to VWS?   I had the software running for at least an hour and nothing shows up on APRS.

Is there anyone out there who can help me set this up?   I also tried using Weather Display software but totally confused about that.   I got that to show up on APRS, however again, how does my information get from my station to the software.

Thanks

Tom

Since you didn't mention it, I was wondering if you were also running the "add-on" product VWS APRS? https://www.ambientweather.com/vwsaprs.html

Tom,

Just so I understand, you are running BOTH VWS and VWS-APRS. Is that correct? If so, in VWS-APRS you'll point to the dbase.csv file that VWS continuously updates. That file is typically located in X:\vws\data\dbase.csv where 'X' is the drive VWS is installed in. If you're not seeing a dbase.csv file, then your VWS isn't working correctly.

Hi

I just downloaded and install the VWS software and now have both, I do not see the file dbase in that location, x=c for my drive and do not see it.

I also do not understand the VWS software at all and you are correct and do not have the software configured correctly.

I am so frustrated...lol...

But let me say this, with these two pieces of software installed, will I have the capability to see my station under the APRS.fi.

I do need help in setting up VWS

VWS is not compatible with 2902.

Ok thanks, does anyone know how I can get my weather station to report to APRS?   I also have my weather reported to Weather Underground.

Any help would be appreciated at this time.

Thanks for all your help. I have it up and running, actually using a script to report to CWOP and now I'm showing up on APRS.
