Just as a slight side note after speaking with Ecowitt earlier today, it looks as though the GW1100 product will be used with the GW1001, GW1002 and GW1003 weather stations from the end of August. Their exact quote was:

For your last order, the
GW1001, GW1002, GW1003

The software is being upgraded, and it will be easier to configure the network and connect to the network.

At present, it takes 5-6 weeks to prepare, and any news during the period will be notified to you immediately.

I suspect the 5-6 weeks may also be due to the large amount we ordered from their 868MHz options.

The WS80 is supported.* There is one exception. If you live in USA then they will not ship you the WS80 because of trade agreement with Ambient as they would have exclusivity of that part model. But you can certainly order the GW1100 in the USA and then use it with the Ambient WS80. Other than in the USA the WS80 is available from Ecowitt.

Also the Ecowitt.com website product page for the GW1100 doesn't seem to list the WS80 but that doesn't mean it isn't compatible. It just means they forgot to mention it. I see that list more like a suggestion list of compatible sensors and not as a comprehensive list. The WH65 sensor is also missing from the list and we know that is compatible.

Had the gw1100 for about a week or so now. Using it with the AW Meteobridge as I did with the gw1000.

The Gw1100 has not performed as well or reliable as the Gw1000.
Several times none of my data is showing on WU and all the other places it's send.  Rebooting the meteobridge helps to get things working again.

Few times the GW1100 has to be reconnected to the wifi.

I'm nearing the point of going back to the Gw1000 for uses with the AW Meteobrige. Disappointing and frustrating having to reset and reconnect.

@platokidd: How would having to reboot the Meteobridge to get your data again be an indicator for the GW1100 not posting data properly ?
Except you post to the weather networks through the Meteobridge only.
Did you have data gaps in your MB database (hourly data, minute based data if you have activated this feature in MB) ? That could be an reliable indicator.
Also, missing data at WU is unfortunately not a good indicator as there's a lot of trouble at the WU end lately, not caused by posting devices.

...........
For my new GW1100, at least at ecowitt.net, after 24 hours, no gaps visible.
Will continue observing and see if I can confirm your observations.

Will also connect it to one of Meteobridges and check, how the recording and archiving (minute data) will go.

Few times the GW1100 has to be reconnected to the wifi.

Out of interest, if you have a PC that can be running 24/7 you could run PingInfoView on it to monitor for lost connections.

Curious in general as to whether anyone has pulled either device down & seen it's hardware specs.
I do wonder if that has changed or whether the 1100 is simply a revised firmware.

I thought I did read that the GW1000 was based on an ESP8266?
With seeing what I've had running here on a basic ESP-01 with 8Mbit of memory, I wonder what the GW1000's internals are.

Edit screen shot of the Ping Monitor. Interval is configurable.

The GW1100 seems to be working okay now, fingers crossed. I'm not sure why my data was dropping off or why I had to keep reconnecting the gw1100 to wifi. However rebooting the AWmeteobridge would restore sending only to fail again later.
All the places I was sending data was missing, not just WU. Could have been interference although the gw1000 work fine in the same location.. I have now moved the location of GW1100.

Probably noteworthy: The Gw1100 is connected to the AW-meteobridge usb with extension cord for power.
