Lost wind speed
« on: May 08, 2021, 12:34:24 AM »
I have the mechanical wind sensor...

Been working fine for a couple months , tonight the wind speed dropped to zero.  I can see the cups up there spinning.

Wind direction is still registering (in the ws view app)

I tried relearning the sensor ID, didn't help.

Any thoughts?

You say the wind direction is still registering, but in the Ecowitt.net image you posted , it also doesn't appear to be, looks like it is reporting a default of 0/360. I know you said in WSView, what kind of values are you seeing there ? . And the obvious question, how fast are the cups spinning and is it possible the wind fell that fast (I know silly question, but...) ?

What outdoor sensor / array do you have?

It has been posted before on here with someone with the same issue, I believe the end result was a faulty sensor, unfortunately.

I looked at your Ecowitt.net site , on there your wind direction is not changing , pretty much flat lined at N (Graph) however the gauge does move about as you say WSW. Weird

Did you try to replace your battery or/and to reset the sensor array ?
--> manual (Remove battery compartment cover and press reset button - staple end needed)
"In the event the sensor package is not transmitting, reset the sensor package.
Using a bent-open paperclip, press and hold the RESET BUTTON (item 10)
to affect a reset: the LED turns on while the RESET button is depressed, and
you can now let go. The LED should then resume as normal, flashing
approximately once every 16.5 seconds."
If that doesn't help your sensor(s) might have given up their ghost.
It would then be a warranty case I guess.
