Man you guys just cant get a break from winter up there.
Either it's freezing cold with snow or tons of rain.
Just boring weather down here in Fla. Don't get me wrong I like the seasonal temps and all but
the weather is very lame.

Our seesaw effect goes on.  50s one day, then a dip.  Probably only 20s Monday, maybe Tuesday, then back to near 60 by the weekend.  Various precip in the forecasts which we do NOT need as roads are still flooded, going on two weeks now.

Weather person just said MPLS had 45 inches of snow in 29 days. 4th snowiest month ever recorded.

-12 below tonight with wind chill.

Thank god the sun in strong.
I am worried about the flooding potential this spring and early summer. A quick thaw with a couple of substantial spring rains could cause real trouble. I am in the Cedar Rapids area and the last thing we need is another disaster like we had in 2008.

Flooding is going to be a problem, depending on how fast it warms up.

If anyone does Cocorahs this would be a good time to do a core sample of moisture content so they know what to expect when the melting starts.

This is what it looked like on low temperatures and snow depth for stations that measure only around Nebraska today. Valentine beat out by Gorden just to our west on low temp.

For some perspective, just remember people that it won't be very long until we're bellyaching about the heat! :-P

Low temperature this station at 7:10 a.m. was minus 16. That is among the coldest I have seen for here. (I know that's a spring temperature in ND, but it is very cold here).

Have you about had enough global warming?

North Platte NWS statement this morning:  At 5:24 CST, North Platte officially recorded a temperature of -25F, shattering the previous record of -17F set in 1960, and also beating the coldest temp EVER recorded in the month of March, which was -22F, set in 1960 and 2002!

Yesterday made it up to 3° here in Valentine.  =D>

From a forecast low of 8 and a wind chill advisory, public schools and OSU were closed in Stillwater on Monday.  Oklahoma City missed a record low by 1 degree.   Highs look to be in the 50s for a good stretch starting on Wednesday or Thursday.

Two days of melting in a row. Water standing in places on the prairie. Only snow left here is the small drifts. Wind gusts to 40 today.
Good luck using the driveway.  :-(

You could see it on satellite melting today also. Southern Nebraska looked snow free.
We still have around 8" even after some melting. Highest is 21" in backyard drift.

The forecast has 14-21" new possible over 3 days this week. I'll believe when I see it.

Something North Platte NWS put out in forecaster discussion this afternoon.

: This system has the potential to be one of the stronger storms in the last 10 years or so - with very deep surface low pressure and abundant moisture resulting in very strong winds and heavy precipitation. Please monitor the latest forecast information.

Wow, I just read your AFD. Taking a negative tilt, progged to drop to 972mb (that's 28.70" inHg ). This could be a very bad boy for a lot of folks....
