Tapatalk error
« on: January 07, 2020, 02:38:05 PM »
Brand new member here. First post. After registering, I tried to login using Tapatalk which I use for several forums I follow. Here is a screenshot of the error. I haven’t searched for the issue yet. Is there a simple answer? A plug-in issue? [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Searching the forums looks like Tapatalk has been used in the past. Based on that, and absolutely no feedback, I’ll assume this is some issue with your website. Difficult to view the website version on an iPhone, but I’m patient while you investigate this error.
Thanks,

I've updated the Tapatalk SMF plugin on the forum to the latest version (tapatalk_smf-2a_v4.5.4).  Thanks to some older code in their plugin, I had to add
Code: [Select]
error_reporting(0); to two sub-functions (Subs.php, Load.php) to staunch a flood of messages in the SMF error log.

Let me know if this update fixes your issue.

Best regards,
Ken

It does now allow me to login, although not always consistently. What seems to be in the randomness of operation is this consistent message...if that sentence makes any sense.

My experience with Tapatalk is terrible in this forum. Loading times are unbearable so I end up reading forums via Android browsers which is definately much more difficult to read from due to formatting but at least loading times are reasonable.

Sorry about that!  I'll see what I can do about the Tapatalk access/functionality later today after the forum is moved to new hosting.

Tapatalk plugin updated to Version 4.5.7.  Hopefully this will fix those pesky issues.

I hope you didn't take that personally as it wasn't meant to be a dig. I just mentioned it because I thought it was a Tapatalk problem.

No offense taken... the code for the tapatalk plugin is quite messy and was casting a lot of Deprecated errors in the log (until I put in error_reporting(0); in several places to shut off the flood).

Is it working better with the updated plugin on the new VPS host?

Sorry to say this but I don't think it worked...

What is/are the failure(s) you're seeing?  Was your above message posted via Tapatalk (as the 'Sent from my SM-N960W using Tapatalk' indicates)?

I’m seeing some extended time when accessing a forum thru Tapatalk. Doesn’t necessarily equate to an error.

Me too.  I fear it is a Tapatalk issue. Direct access to the forum is quite responsive. I’ll check with Tapatalk support.

This is the same I'm experiencing, very long load times but no errors.

When I was scrolling through my unread posts I got this when it was taking a long time to load more messages.
