Title: iPhone screen cleaner...............
Post by: Splitrail on December 19, 2021, 08:38:12 AM
Though there are many recommendations on what NOT to use as a (liquid/spray) screen cleaner, other than plain water I don't see many recommendations on what TO use.
Lots of warnings out there about degrading the proprietary coatings on the glass (oleophobic and hydrophobic touch screens) and screen protectors.
Even Apple has no recommendations for a cleaner other than water.
I know that clean microfiber cloths are best to dry & wipe a screen, but would like to find something in a spray bottle to use, carry with me, etc.
Disinfecting is not a consideration, just a cleaner.
Any thoughts on what's really safe to use?
Thanks!

I use this on my precious vinyl every time one hits the turntable.

I've used iCloth screen wipes in the past.  They are supposedly approved to clean touch screens in glass aircraft cockpits.....

I use this kind of wipe for all my Android touch screen devices, never had a problem

My thinking is that if they are ok with camera lenses and spectacles they wiil fine with phones.
Can't speak for fruity devices but my Android phone uses gorilla glass, very little going to damage that  ;)

I only have/had the Note series and I always use film type screen protectors and i always use 70% rubbing alcohol on a microfibre cloth, wipe over once with some of the alcohol and dry with the cloth, cleans it right up every time and the screen protector protects the screen from collateral damage.

Here's a recommendation I got on another forum.
Works great, inexpensive, easy to make.
I reduced the detergent amount by 50%.
For the phone, I dampen a corner of the microfiber cloth with a small 1 oz spray bottle, wipe the phone down with it, then dry it with the rest of the cloth.
The kit takes up very little space in the car or backpack.

"Dishwashing detergent diluted 1 part to 100 parts water (preferably distilled). That's all I use on my Panasonic plasma (their recommendation). Dampen a cloth with a little of it & dry with another cloth. It's an industry standard recommendation. Don't waste time or money on commercial "cleaners" in this case."
