Phone problem.
« on: August 01, 2009, 11:27:40 AM »
I am trying to DL a animated gif of a weather radar I made. Problem is my phone only DL it as a graphic, not a web file. I can still view it but I have to save it, name it then view it. Kind of a hassle.
It also DL it as a png file even though it's a gif.
This is the url
http://tinyurl.com/mtgaau

My phone doesn't have the tilde symbol so I by passed that with the tiny url.

Talked to the tech at ATT but they don't have a clue. Two people at ATT entered the above url on a I-Phone and a Razor and it worked fine so I don't think it's an issue with the url.
I haven't had any issue with the phone DL animations to this point. It does accept animated gifs.

It's most likely an issue with the browser but I thought one of you techies out there might have suggestion.

What phone and browser are you using?  I am on an AT&T Tilt with IE mobile.  I also have Skyfox installed as a browser as well.

Sam it's a Samsung A437. Browser is WAP 2.0
I tried Skyfox but the phone doesn't support it.
Also tried Opera Mini but that doesn't support animated gifs.
According to tech support at ATT this browser supports animated gifs so it shouldn't be an issue.
I am thinking it's the workaround I am using for the phone not having a tilde symbol.
I think what I need to do is borrow some web space from somebody for about an hour and see if bypassing comcast might work.

Can you email or text the url with the tilde to the phone, and then open it that way, and then bookmark for future use?

I had someone do that but it opens up Comcast's personal web page section of their website.
The thing is even though it was texted with the tilde it didn't show up on my phone with it. ](*,) ](*,)
I think I have about exhausted all avenues. Damn this is perplexing.

I haven't had one ounce of luck with Samsung cell phones.. I hope YMV !
I have went through 3 of the R430's so far with different problems..latest lost the transmit audio. Tried to upgrade but Verizon won't hear of it until 2011 !
I'll have went through a box car load of these things by then!    Looks to be time for Ebay!
I finally did get it to download my radar but not my animation! Static view only.  I was definitely cheap and stupid when I got these phones!  But it was in the middle of the wife's brothers funeral where we needed communications and Nextel didn't have coverage.

Hope you get your problems ironed out!
