Startech 2 port pci serial port controller
« on: August 28, 2016, 07:20:53 PM »
Does anyone have any idea why I can't get my startech to communicate with my 2 Davis stations after I upgraded to win7 pro 64 bit os? The multi port pci controller says driver is correct along with the 2 serial ports. I noticed for some reason its put them from serial port 3 and 4 in winxp 64 bit os to 5 and 6 after the win7 64 bit os fresh install? I tried to run auto detect on weatherlink and still no luck. I need to get them back up and running.

Thanks,

First, you say it switched them from 3 and 4 to 5 and 6 ? What is occupying 3 and 4 now ? If nothing then you can move them back to 3/4 easily. Also you mentioned that the driver is correct. Are you allowing Win7 to install a generic driver or are you installing a Startech Win7 driver ? Sometimes allowing Windows to install its own driver ain't necessarily a good thing. Have you checked with Startech about drivers ? Just thinking outloud here....

Thanks for the reply. I'm using the startech win7 64 bit driver for this. How do you switch the comports back to 3 and 4 from 5 and 6? Nothing is occupying these other ports.
Edit: I removed the PCI board and put it back in and was able to get correct com ports back but still no luck. I finally got vantage pro to work in vws and now for some reason I can't switch to my other station to run both at once. I have never had this problem before?? I had to do a fresh install of vws and copy over existing files and folders to get everything working finally.
Happy weatherman now!

Thanks,
