Title: Lake temp sensor WIFI but not cloud based
Post by: Fast351 on August 04, 2020, 02:12:52 PM
I want to be able to detect lake temperature.  Would prefer to use a Wifi device, but would settle for a 433 or 900 MHz transmitter with a gateway.

I want to record the temperature locally.  IE, not be reliant on a cloud service.  I got burned by the whole Nest/Google debacle where they shut down the API, and ended up having to switch to a home thermostat that supports a local API.

I don't really care HOW the data gets stored locally (whether the gateway dumps to an FTP server, or I query it via serial, or it dumps to a log file) as long as there isn't a cloud server in the loop.

Has anyone found a device like this?  I thought I had something with the Monnit Wifi sensor, but it seems like you cannot uncripple the device from their cloud service.
