Light outside today has been odd

it seems the forest fires out west are affecting the light, giving us here the impression of a storm coming, but it isnt

It started here yesterday evening, and today the sun has been an obscured yellow with all kinds of haze.  Yet the smoke is in the upper atmosphere so there's absolutely no smokey odor!

We get the reverse, recently it was hazy out here in the hills, it was dust from African dust storms and we got it? But then in the Spring when MX burns fields sometimes we get that smoke and you can not only see it, but taste it and worst of all Austin gets charged for a "bad air day" even though they're just sitting there?
