Gas here in western Michigan is running about $2.70/gal or so for regular . That’s fine for my wife’s SUV. My Beetle though, like your Volvo, requires premium for another 60 cents per gallon (partly because VW says so, mostly because of the module I have in it -VROOM! VROOM!). The good news there is that I’ve only filled the Beetle up 4 times in the last year. Working at home changed my driving habits that much.
As for the cheaper cost of the 15% ethanol stuff, I question if it’s really cheaper? Don’t you also lose MPG with it too? For the same distance it actually costs you more? Idk, maybe I’m wrong.
My standard joke is that I get great mileage for my Mazda, I don't go anywhere to speak of. I did find out that the more electronics that the cars need to be started more often if just parked at home, that they wear out the battery. So I came up with a schedule on my computer to remind me to start it.
Iowa is about $2.764 for regular and $3.330 for premium depending on where you get it. Different places are slightly different. I drive in the city and the thing gets about 24mpg which is not that bad for Des Moines traffic.
The reason the wife has the Volvo, her brother worked for Volvo as a parts manager out in LA, and told her it was a safe car. We are leasing it. I used to have a Jeep Laredo, but it just wore out.. I loved that Jeep, I could get through any pile of snow without any worry.
But the gas prices seem to be higher and my take on it? Greed .
