Interesting how the heavy rain concentrated away from Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Lawton and Stillwater as Sunday:.

You know those tipping spoons on a VP2? Well, they have been busy tipping here. 3.84" since midnight. That is a lot of rain for this time of year in this area. The ground has been so dry there is little run off.

Happy to see it.

Just set your PC clock 1 hour ahead and you can join in the fun.
Florida actually passed a law to do away with it but  congress must first vote to pass it. You can't make this stuff up.

Blizzard warning out for Oklahoma panhandle.  As of 3:45 am, it looks like Stillwater is going to get some rain soon with special weather statement issued for it.   No severe alert.  Storm moving fast at 50 mph, so don't expect a very impressive rain amount.     OKC doesn't look like it's going to get much rain.  Rain is more widespread in Kansas.

Spring Equinox brings Chicagohenge. Chicago's east-west street layout gives this twice a year phenomena not only downtown but on many of the side streets.

A quote from this morning's Chicago area NWS Office:

There`s an old song by Chet Atkins called "Windy and Warm" and
that kind of seems like a good description of today`s weather,
although perhaps Breezy and Warm is a bit more reflective given
the forecast wind gusts today (to around 25-30 mph). While we
tickled the 80 degree mark in places on Monday, think we`ll see
these readings over a wider area today

Carlaw

We have hit 80.1 at the homestead this afternoon. Rain and cooler temps for the rest of the week.

Monday was a record-setting warm day up this way.  Widespread soaking spring rains are in the forecast for the next several days.

What a difference a year makes

CoCoRaHS reports for my location:

1 March 2020 through 8 April 2020 Total precipitation .98"
1 March 2021     "       8 April 2021    "        "             7.95"

I like this year much better.  :-)

Snow showers?  Even though it's well into April, no complaints here.  The month's weather has been eventful, with the temperature hitting 85 on the 5th, followed by more than 5 inches of rain this past week, easing the severity of our abnormally dry conditions coming out of winter.  The moisture means the spring green-up will pick up some steam, passing snow showers or not.

Mid April is generally very early spring here that can bring some very nice warm, or quite cold and rainy conditions.  Last few days it has been on the warm side and cooled down a bit by some early light rain this morning, which was followed by some bright sun and also dark clouds in the afternoon.  I took a little walk around our crescent at about 4:00 pm and out in the east sky saw this big dark cloud in the direction of our house, so took a picture.

When I got home a few minutes later my wife asked if I had seen the funnel cloud... which I hadn't, so she showed a Facebook post of the picture a neighbour had taken just a couple of minutes before my picture.  I guess I am never in the right place at the right time.

Enjoy,
Paul

Likely the last sunset with the white stuff this year. Almost ended up with 60" on the season.

Picked up 1-2" here as well. And as you say, likely the last until next winter.

April 20 snow is late for this location. I fear new leaves and buds will be killed by this cold snap.

All of Oklahoma is in for a freeze warning for Wednesday morning.  It even gets into part of northern Texas.    Oklahoma City expects to have 30.  Record is 34.

It's a rainy night in Stillwater late on 4/23 with nearly all of Stillwater going over 1 inch of rain as of 11:30pm as the normal amount of rainfall for April starts to close in.  Other parts of the state  had hail today but none here, so far.  Much of April has been cool and totally free of severe weather here.
