Storm Gerrit UK

Transporterman:
Yet another storm this year bad enough to be named.  69.6mph so far and a good old pressure drop.  It's too wet to go outside to check the greenhouse, I'll go out later and pick up the pieces!

Similar story here- interesting how being a couple of miles inland can make a difference, we are just 10 miles or so away

Peak gust around 45 mph so far

Across the other side of the country we so far have only seen a 30mph gust and baro is 1008hpa. Will get worse though later.

Quite a distinct back edge, pressure just bottoming out at 997

Transporterman:
Just had a gust of 70.7 mph.  We are quite exposed here especially to the South and West.  If I draw a line due West from my house there is nothing until you get to a bar with funny name in Newfoundland!

I took this photo from a holiday jet once when we were lucky enough to fly right over on a clear day.  You can see why the big lows can steam in unobstructed from the Atlantic.
