after three years with ripe atlas
« on: January 29, 2023, 04:21:21 PM »
AFter three years running with ripe atlas my probe died again. This time they said that I would have to reapply to see if I can get a new probe. and even if I do get let in again I would be on a waiting list now.

It looks like I will be closing shop with them. I am peaty sure they will not let me in again.

It was fun while it lasted.

RIP probe # 34203

its funny after some reading up the device was stuck in a reboot loop because of bad firmware update When I emailed rip atlas about it this is what they said
Hi Anthony,

Thank you for coming back to us.

In order to send the device back you can use the office address below and we do not provide any label or so.

https://www.ripe.net/support/contact/office-location

Therefore in case you don't like to create the sending label yourself we suggest keeping the device.

The Firmware gets downloaded automatically on the USB stick, therefore, if you tried using a spare usb and it won't work it is probably a faulty device confirmed.

I hope to have informed you sufficiently at this stage.

So it seems like they really don't care about the device. Because I was able to flash it back to its fimware before. so its back to being a router again.

in a way I kind of fixed it. But it will never be a probe again.

Anthony
