I will add ability to set the address/port
(e.g to 192.168.1.5 or something)

Hi,

I installed the latest version of WD found in ZIP and checked the "Data share TCP/IP to 127.0.0.1 port 5511" box in the configuration screen.

In Weatherlink (5.9.3 or 6.0.3) on the same PC I configured the Communication Port as
Communication : TCP/IP
TCP Port : 5511
Remote IP address : 127.0.0.1

When pushing the Test button, I get the error message "TCP/IP : Communication error found.  Check settings and try again"

I made a quick & dirty test with PuTTY connecting 127.0.0.1:5511.  When the "data share ..." is disabled in WD, I get an error.  Then the option is enabled, no error message anymore in PuTTY but an empty screen.

FYI, during the installation of Weatherlink I get a warning about a "newer driver 6.4 already installed".   I guess it is related to Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge which is 6.4.0.0.

The same configuration ran with VVP but communication crashed after a few hours.

this feature in WD will send out the Davis LOOP data every time WD gets live data from the station
once a connection has been made to the 127.0.0.1, port 5511 TCP/IP

(i.e you need to have WD getting live data from the station)

did you try setting weather link up to get real time LOOP data?
(i.e broadcast screen open)

Things must be going south quick because a few months when I asked to find my original registration key, he gave me the default one for free. Poor Steve  :-(

Hi,

Not sure to understand what you mean

Please see WD config in capture1.png screenshot
WD is running and receiving data.

In capture2.png you can see WL configuration and error message when I press the TEST button
It is the same WL configuration I used sucessfuly with VVP.   The problems with VVP were connection problems after a few hours.

Thanks for your help
Joel.

I made a new test with Putty open to 127.0.0.1 : 5511  as raw connection (instead of ssh as in my first test)

I receive a line of data more or less every second :

Welcome to OverByte ICS TcpSrv
O     tQ4{(2
LO  tQ4{(2
LO  tQ4{(2
LO  tQ4{'2
LO    tQ4{'2
8LO  tQ4{'2
8LPuTTYPuTTYO        tQ4{'2
LO    tQ4{'2
L

The connection is broken as soon as I close WD, so we can suppose these data come from WD.

Hi
yes, that test shows its working, thats the LOOP data

WD is not setup to resond to a test send (or any other data sends) from WL (Or any other software)
at this stage
if the software can be set to just start accepting live LOOP data, then it should work
(see my post above about setting WL to bulletin mode?)

(for your info, local time is now 22:45)

There is no link to install WL because the installation CD comes with the datalogger.
There is indeed a link on Davis website, for upgrade only : http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather/downloads/software_sftwr.asp
I will sent you in a few minutes an e-mail on the address stated on your contact webpage.
