5n1 Humidity Sensor Replacement
« on: February 05, 2020, 12:53:15 PM »
Hello all,

my humidity reads a constant 99% so I think it's time to throw out the
sensor and replace it with a new one.
Of course the replacement board is notoriously under stocked at Acurite
and now they are telling me the new arrival date is April 9th 2020.

I can get the sensor itself (SHT21) from Mouser for around $7 and was
wondering if anybody has ever attempted to just replace the SHT21 chip
itself and not rely on Acurite for this?

Best Regards

Joerg

Yes, assuming there is no damage to the module board,

I'd say you could take the opportunity to upgrade the sensor to the SHT31 or SHT35/85.

Looking at the entire SHT family of sensors, I was thinking of that too...
Although, given the dependency on so many different factors, it is questionable
if the increased resolution and accuracy of the 31 or the 35/85 is going to come
into play and making the extra expense worth the money.

Aha very cool.
I did eyeball those at first, but when I placed my order with Acurite,
the website still said "In Stock".
I will order this module and just put the original on the shelf when it rolls in.

Thanks for the link! Much appreciated.
