Meanwhile, we are enjoying one of the coolest summers ever. It's not reached 100° and we are into August. Very wet too, July at the airport was (-3.4°) below average for July.
=D>  Shocking! One man's heat is another man's cool. Whoda thunk it! Can't have one without the other. Just like high and low pressure. And you can bet the climate freaks will never take note, as it doesn't fit the narrative. The only focus is the hot places, never the cool ones. Ying and Yang.  :twisted:

Nope, you'll never hear a peep nor do they ever talk about how temperatures are measured now with aspirated solid-state sensors that react fast vs the old wooden CR shelters that had slow reaction times. The way we measure air temps now has really changed so records will be broken for sure.

As pictured, a big change in the weather pattern has treated the northeast half of Oklahoma to a generous amount of rain for the past several nights.  It's not very unusual during August for storms to form in NE, CO and KS and move southeast to Oklahoma overnight.  It explains why the grass is still green in August.  For the early Tuesday morning storm, I got .85".  However, two locations in the southwest part of town got 1.33".  They benefitted from overhead storm development that formed out ahead of the main line.  There may be another round of them tonight.  Fortunately, these storms have not been anywhere near as severe as the recent ones in the eastern part of the country.

Daytime highs in the upper 80s, instead of the 100s, has been another treat.

Pictured, an isolated storm located halfway between Stillwater and Tulsa at 8 pm, 8/9. Picture taken in Stillwater at Boomer Lake Park.  Storm was gone by 9:30 pm.  Stronger storms at the time were in northeast OK and AR as well as along the Red River centered near Durant, headed for TX.

I missed a soaking Wednesday morning from the Kansas storms moving east this time and bypassing Oklahoma.  What came out of the Texas panhandle and moved east didn't amount to much, only .03" here.  Weather will now be dry thru Sat.  Hopefully, 100s will stay in Texas.

Heavy storminess has returned to much of the northern half of Oklahoma tonight, 8/13.  It looks like rain might get up to two inches here.  We need all that to get ready for the return to more hot weather near 100 next week.  But first Monday and Tuesday looks wonderful with highs in the 80s.

Wow, a third round of heavy rain came into Stillwater, even heavier than the first two. At one brief point it was coming in at a bit over 9" per hour.  It quickly got the rain total over 2" at 2.25" currently here.  More rain coming.  This is surely the heaviest rain event of this year for Stillwater.  The air was so hot and humid on Sunday you couldn't walk far without pouring from sweat.  So, I'm not surprised it would rain a lot.   It has now resulted in a flash flood warning as follows:

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Payne County in central Oklahoma...
* Until 300 AM CDT.
* At 1147 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Stillwater, Yale, Glencoe, Lake Carl Blackwell, Quay and Ingalls.
FLASH FLOOD...RADAR INDICATED

Damn, Ron I thought something may be wrong with the DP but checked other stations in your area and they also were saying around 84° DP at peak heating.  Nuts!

September 10th, and have hit 111F. I'm thinking a record or two will be broken today. Maybe even some rain in the new week!
