Home Weather Station - New Android App
« on: February 19, 2014, 04:06:46 PM »
I've been working on making an Android app to view the data generated by Cumulus.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.theocapps.homeweather

Youtube Video (If anyone knows how to embed a youtube video on this forums please let me know how):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azfAw1BPft4

Features:
- Input your own weather station URL (realtime.txt file required)
- All information displayed is from the realtime.txt file and images
- Simple UI
- App is separated into Now, Today, Trends, All Info (very similar to the website)

Work is still being doing on the application. I released it early to let the public try it. Minimum Android Version required to tun it is 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)

Please reply with comments, questions, issues, or anything related to the app.

Interesting, however, in the US you will need to change the units.

Tried it but it's not working with my cumulus string realtime.txt string. I use F/MPH English not C/kph metric could be the issue.

I had trouble at first but Theo was very responsive to my email and got me straightened.

Be sure to use http:// in front of your url.  Include your url path but leave realtime.txt off the end.  This is contrary to the instructions I believe.

The graphs are great but I am unable to zoom my screen to be able to get a better view of the parameters.  And I would pay a reasonable one time fee to get rid of the banner ads.

So far, thumbs up.

The units are hard-coded into the reatlime.txt file, not in the app.  You probably did the same things as I did the first time.  I put the full URL including the realtime.txt part of the path and I got Theo C's sample data with the metric units.  Just input the path without the realtime.txt and it should work for you as it did for me (and don't forget to include the trailing / )!

First time I screwed something up by following the DIRECTIONS! \:D/

Working now: Ads suck.

That's what I get for following directions.  ](*,)  Don't know if he changed them but the realtime.txt was included at end of URL. Cool app though, I pointed it out to several people at work who also have it now.
