Bad things. Apparently there are more that are possible. I thought there were more detectors since the 2004 tsunami. Unhappy anniversary. Maybe since it is a slightly different part of the ocean, it is still not covered.
Anyone have any info?

I didn't hear much, I know the tsunami warning system in place takes time to digest data and disseminate so any quake near the shoreline may not be detected until too late.

Think I am staying in Minnesota.
Can't afford to travel anyway.

Current warning system does not respond to tsunamis unless caused by quakes. Also, many of the buoys in that area were vandalized and or not operating. There are a number of news reports related to this topic on Google News

Watched something on the 2004 Indian Ocean that killed so many, they said even with a warning system in place many wouldn't survive because technology back in 2004 was taking about 2 hours to disseminate warning to the public. It's better now I think it's down to about 15 minutes like you said some areas even 5 minutes along Japan coast.
