Topic: DC Powered 24 Hr FARS Fan Substitute?

I've had my 6163 for less than 6 months and the fan is squealing and won't hold a napkin up at the intake.
I'd like to replace the motor with a quality unit instead of an item that appears to have years of premature failure.

I have no AC power nor any way to get AC power to the ISS mounting site.

Anyone have info on a suitable DC powered fan for the ISS?

Well, it is possible - keyword possible - if you invest in a larger 10W+ solar panel and a battery setup. Otherwise, your going to have to stick with the Davis fan.

Since you just bought it 6 months ago you are still under warranty. Give Davis a call for a free replacement.

I have a warranty replacement on the way.

I'd still like to find a suitable replacement that uses DC.
Do you have a parts list for the solar project?

I chased around all over the web looking for something identical, but the only one that comes close is the Jameco motor some have recommended. It runs about 100 to 200rpm slower but if you want to change them out yourself their cheap but not perfectly the same speed . Reliability is about the same.
