New Tempest weather Station in Lake Worth Florida
« on: December 03, 2021, 01:38:57 PM »
Hello,

Just wanted to share a photo of my brand new Tempest weather station in my backyard. Used a 10 foot 1 inch EMT along with cement into the ground which ended up being very sturdy. I am really loving this unit so far the temps are spot on and so is the wind it picks up even the slightest breeze which is great. Can't really comment to much on the haptic rain gauge yet as dry season is in full swing here in South Florida with no rain in sight. I have it running with my ambient meteobridge which allows me to share my  data with CWOP, Mesowest WU etc...

Will leave a few links to the live data for those who wanna view.

Yer, I have had no rain yet on my new WS-2000 here in NE FL. It was installed 17 Nov.

I’m in West Boynton Beach not far from you. Running a Acurite Atlas but have been looking at the Tempest. Just concerned about the haptic rain.

Hi mike! Well regarding the haptic sensor it’s accuracy is improved I have had mine for a few weeks and it’s been spot on. I have compared to other tempest stations near my house and also used Cocorahs for comparisons. I must say what I really am enjoying about this station is the 3 sec wind updates the sonic wind sensor picks up even the slightest breeze. I have yet to get into a nice severe storm as you know SFL is into the dry season now.

Have any photos of your setup?

Hi,

I'm new here, just signed up, and it's raining today so I figured I reach out and talk to you.

I have been utilizing your data for a construction project we have going on over on Jog Road. We are primarily focused on getting the most accurate rain data as possible, and I wanted to know if you had a recommended device that we would be able to purchase that would be able to digitally display rain data from our job site. I just looked up your Tempest and by the looks of the additional Cocorahs rain gauge, I'm guessing the Tempest might not be the most accurate in terms of tracking rain data. We can chat offline or in person as well, as I know you are just right down the street from us. I know nothing about these systems whatsoever.

Thanks and let me know,

The tempest measures rain, but not accurately, it at least tells you when it is raining.  Then they use an algo to correct it, guess from radar data and nearby weather stations.

But overall, it decent.
