If starting CumulusMX for the first time the startup DOS screen will give you a URL to enter in a browser and to run the Wizard - i.e. localhost:8998/wizard.html
Enter that and follow the Wizard's setting prompts, including the station type, etc.  When that is completed you may need to stop CumulusMX, and then restart.  You can then go through the other settings to suit.

If you have already run CumulusMX before, then go through the Station settings to suit your station type.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hello

Just backing up a little, what stage are you at?

Have you actually installed CMX yet?

https://cumuluswiki.org/a/MX_on_Windows_OS

The first time you run it as Paul says above it will report an IP address 192.168.1.xy:8998 which you can insert into a browser to talk to CMX. The first time you do that it will initiate a wizard to guide you through the process and create a file called cumulus.ini to store all your settings.

Note that the installation files do not include a cumulus.ini file, you have to run the program once to create it

You can run the settings wizard from the main page every time you need to change anything, if all goes wrong simply delete the cumulus.ini file and start again

The wiki link is pretty well written, read through it first

If you are installing on Linux

https://cumuluswiki.org/a/MX_on_Linux

Once installed the settings process is the same

Hope this helps

Can you tell us what you have done, what displays, etc.?

Enjoy,

We can assume you are likely using Windows.

But "it won't let me open" doesn't help much.  You could type the entire error message into your post, along with what filename you were trying to open.

Or capture the screen and post the screenshot here.

Sorry, I don't understand what 'the first run page" is.
Ok, basics:
1. You have unzipped the CumulusMX download and the unzipped files are all in a folder something like C:\CumulusMX, is that correct?
2. You then go to C:\CumulusMX\CumulusMX.exe file and right click on it, and select Run as Administrator, is that correct?
3. You will now see a DOS type screen that displays startup process, and ends with something like the following
Code: [Select]
Cumulus MX v.4.4.5 build 4088
Working Dir: C:\KomokaWeather\CumulusMXwll\
Delaying start for 10 seconds
Start-up delay complete, continuing...

Cumulus running at: http://localhost:8999/
                    http://10.0.0.75:8999/

Open the admin interface by entering one of the above URLs into a web browser.
is that correct?

Enjoy,
Paul

Once you are at the CumulusMX 'Dashboard', click on Settings, then Config Wizard.
You should get something like my screenshot. Work your way through it, step by step.

Have you done item 2?
Do you then get the DOS type screen as per attached?

If so then what did you do?

Enjoy,

Yes I got CumulusMX running and my WeatherLink data transferd to CumulusMX. The problem I was having I overlooked not having .net8 in my computer. I'm really enjoying CumulusMX.
