Hi,
Alessandro, this is not how the webcam plugin normally looks like. You have some extra things and more importantly, there are things missing, you probably modified the code and I think you removed some of the crucial parts of the code that the block needs.

Nono Jachym,
i haven't delelete anything of your code, i've only insert a privacy message below webcam image.

Anyway, i've uplpoaded a new page with original code to check why wecamtimelapse script doesn't found
Link here: http://www.meteopistoia.it/plugins/webcam/index.php

Thanks in advance.
Regards,

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro,
I just checked your page. But it only shows the current image. Did you set up the CRON job for this plugin? Are the images regularly saved by the webcamUpdate script?

Block Update – Current Conditions – Big 4.0

Hi guys,

similarly to the Current Conditions block, I added option to highlight the time and/or value if it changed during the update.

DEMO: http://www.meteotemplate.com/template/indexBlockDemoWide.php?block=currentBig

Hi guys,

quick question, I noticed some of you here discussed some new BloomSky device, I just looked it up to see if it would be possible to add as one of the update options, but if I understand it correctly, there is no wind?

Hi Jáchym

Looks good.

Just an idea: Maybe two Pie-charts on the same page so one can compare two days side by side?

Hi,
that wont work because the min always has the most blue color. Max is red. What I mean is, the colors dont represent some fixed scale. If the daily range is smaller, then you would still have the full range of colors if you see what I mean, so you cant really compare them side by side because on each the particular color represents different temperature.

I had to do it like this because otherwise if I used an absolute scale, to make sure it works for all days it would have to include winter as well as summer temperatures and differences of just several degrees would not be noticeable.

you see what I mean..

Hi

I got it, but it would be a cool feature  It would not be possible to compare colors but it could give an overview of the tendency the two days, "is high at the same time", but I guess you don't like that

It would allow comparing the tendency, I agree with that, on the other hand it would be very confusing. For example, they could both show same colors, but one would be -10 to 0 degrees and other one 20 to 30. It would be very confusing for people.

Jáchym,
I don't believe you have this as atleast a plugin, but can you look into the NWS Storm Prediction Center and possibly set something up for their severe outlook?
Here's the NWS site:
http://spc.noaa.gov
I was thinking of a block for the current days severe outlook map, and a plugin showing the full 7 days with detailed text corresponding to the SPC page
Maybe link the block to the plugin if possible (if equipped on the SITE).
Since severe weather in the middle and eastern half of the US is vital for people's safety, I was looking to possibly add it.

To be quite honest Im a bit hesitant with regards to making anything with NWS because they just change their sites/APIs way too often and the blocks/plugins that use this break and need update way too often...

Yea but the NWS is what us folks in the US have available.  I would like to see this supported as well.

The spc is not at this point, susceptible to the API due to it covering the entire nation. It's not broken down by region.
Its mostly graphics with text information.
I have included a screenshot of today's graphic with corresponding text... You can't read it very well due to how lengthy it is today due to the severe threats.

Hi,
yes I know that NWS is what you have in the U.S. on the other hand you have to understand that it is very difficult to work with a page (organization) that changes things so often. Im not saying it is your or their fault, but if I look at updates done to fix things as a result of changes in data source, NWS would be like 90%. Some blocks/plugins had to be updated even twice or three times and remember MT is still less than 2 years old. And it is then very hectic when I get emails, messages, posts from people asking why something is not working and I know I have to fix it ASAP

Hi Alessandro,
I just checked your page. But it only shows the current image. Did you set up the CRON job for this plugin? Are the images regularly saved by the webcamUpdate script?

Thanks Jachym,
now it works as it should.
I didn't remember to set cron Job regularly.
Regards,

Alessandro

Just looked at it. The problem is that if you look at the images, they have dynamic URL. So the only way to get the URL in such case is HTML scraping - and that is exactly what always breaks the scripts...

Meteotemplate - question for users from the U.S.
« Reply #6547 on: April 19, 2017, 08:40:51 PM »
Hi guys,
ok, I was looking at the http://spc.noaa.gov/ website. Unfortunately to get some of the data the only way will be HTML scraping (image urls are dynamic etc.). Nevertheless I understand this could be very useful info so Im willing to give it a try. However, the problem is that if you look there there is literally hundreds of images, pages, info etc. And Im not quite sure what is really useful to you, what you would like to see so Im asking you to tell me what you would want. Ideally explain how you would want it to work, provide URLs and I will then look at what you want and try to come up with something. This can be a block, plugin or even both, but keep in mind that blocks should be rather simple, clear and short, and are also limited in terms of space. Yes we can use the "more" button, but that also can only be done to a certain extent. Plugins are more flexible, can have more pages.

Jáchym,
Thanks for atleast looking into it.
Let's start off with a block (if possible).
I know there's alot of information on each day's page. The images are set up in tabs (categorical, tornado, hail, wind). I'm not sure if the tabs can be used in a block, if so, great. If not atleast use Categorical, and leave just the image with possible link to the plugin.
Regarding the plugin...
Design it similarly to the SPC page. The first 3 days are similar in setup with days 4-8 as one page. Each page would have tabs to show each categories image, like on the SPC site. Days 4-8 would be only tabbed
The text for each day's graphics would be set below the tabbed graphics. Days

Edit: After going back through the messages, I realized you need more information, links and such.
To give you perspective of how some other sites have it designed, I linked to my old site template, which is still active. http://lightningweather.com/sl/index.php?p=ws_spc_main&lang=en#data-area
That may aid in how to set it up...I hope.
