Nexrad zoom not zooming to selected area
« on: August 14, 2019, 09:34:27 PM »
For many years i have used the WU Nexrad radar in FL to zoom in on storms.  For the last year or so when selecting an area on the Nexrad map it takes you to the ocean or Kansas City or some other place other than where you are attempting to zoom.  Is there a browser setting or something I can do to make this work again?  This was the best radar I have ever found and the product is frankly not working properly.  I attempted emails many times to WU with no help.  My weather station has been featured on WU and I was on WU TV a couple times and this didn't help.  I hope this can get fixed!  My phone does a better job.
Any help here is greatly appreciated.  I use windows 10 and I have used Firefox, IE, and google browsers and they all do the same.  The same here, on my wife's computer and at work on totally different computers.

They're trying to force everyone to the utterly useless "wundermap" so I doubt it'll ever get fixed.

Even no Wundermap for me, again. All browsers are up to date and get this message.

"Map Not Available
The WunderMap is not available on this browser at this time. Please try a different browser or update your current browser to the latest version."

Have been dealing with WU nexrad issues all day. Probably sent 8 emails and no response from them. My current issue is the radar would sporadically load with a black background with no precipitation / rain on the map and would not loop. I forced the frames to load slower and it appears to be working slightly better. This happens about every 3 or 4 months and they have resolved it in the past but so far the problem still exists. I believe they rebooted the server each and every time to get it fixed but not 100%.

Finally received a reply from support. I guess the nexrad radars are considered obsolete, old, and are now unsupported. They want to push that clunky Wundermap that I have used one time.

I would like to thank the Weather Channel (and IBM) for completely ruining a perfectly good website.  If you are looking for a good app, I would recommend RadarScope (annual subscription $9.99).  Lots of NEXRAD data and some good analysis tools.  I won't give IBM / The Weather Channel a dime!
