Frustrating 4 hours ahead on wunderground
« on: June 04, 2019, 04:17:30 PM »
Noob user here. First time with a PWS and attaching to wunderground.

I have the Acurite Atlas (with the Access hub not the display) and that all works fine. I can view my PWS in the myacurite.com dashboard and everything is fine, time is correct, etc. All on Eastern time.

Then I attached it to my wunderground account and it is driving me crazy. This is my wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KININDIA410 and you can see it is 4 hours ahead of Eastern time. I've switched my myacurite.com from Indiana (East) to Eastern (US & Canada) which made no difference. Rebooted the PWS and Access hub how many times.

I'm at my wits end! Any advice? TIA

Your station doesn't control the time shown by wunderground.

You need to set the correct time-zone for your station within your wunderground account.

However, because of ongoing work, wunderground has locked down many items and you probably won't be able to change it.

It sounds like if you don't get the data entered properly on station creation, you're stuck, at least until they re-enable full editing.

Normally, you would go to this URL while logged in, then select "edit" for the device (i.e. station) you want to change.

Good news. I  tracked down, like the hunter I am, a WU person. Apparently this is an issue for many other Indianapolis stations.

You are correct, I can not control the timezone nor edit it. Thus it is truncated as

Time Zone: America/Indiana/Indianapol

Which defaults to UTC.

They have a ticket open for both this issue and for elevation editing. I hope this gets resolved soon. He did say it is marked critical. We'll see.

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.  How do you design a database system with too-small data fields?

Actually,  I think it's so sad that all you CAN do is laugh.
