My Dad (94 Years Young!) called and was asking me about the WU Hourly Forecast where it shows a number of weather parameters, including "Precip" and "Amount".
His question was since they are only showing one amount, is this for liquid equivalent or snow amount? I didn't really know. It seems that what "Amount" means depends on whether the forecast is for rain or snow. The times showing "snow" are in the nearest 0.1" increments. Other forecasts showing definite "rain" in the forecast show amounts in the hundredths of an inch. Are we to assume that if the forecast is for snow that these are snow totals and if it is for rain that they are rain totals?
Is this how it is supposed to work?
What if it is mixed precipitation?
