Connecting wifilogger2 to weatherlink
« on: November 24, 2024, 04:13:39 PM »
I have installed the Wifi2logger in my Vantage Pro 2 console and have it working. It wasn't too easy for me and my wife to get it up and running. I'm now having trouble connecting it to weather link.
Thanks for any help

I have mine set the same way. I just can't get weatherlink to let me change to it.

Hi,
I presume like David you want to upload to the Davis "cloud" Weatherlink.com, and not to run it with WeatherlinkPC program on PC?
If so then what David replied, and as per attached.

If you want to connect to a PC with WeatherlinkPC program i.e. Weatherlink 6.0.5, then in this Weatherlink program Setup > Communications Port > select and tick TCP/IP and follow the next prompts.  You likely will need to enter the WiFiLogger's IP address.

Enjoy,
Paul

Can you provide a screen capture of what you have done, and what it then shows?

Enjoy,
Paul

Everything is set like you show. I'll give it a day or two and see if it will let me change to the wifilogger.

Do you see any errors or WL.com success from running debug? i.e. http://loggerIPaddress/debug

Enjoy,
Paul

WU and cwop are receiving data from wifilogger. I contacted Davis tech support and was told they don't support wifilogger but would look it their end. If by some chance I can't get weatherlink to work I'll need a new weather page to work with. I have checked many times the settings and can't see anything wrong. I even changed settings to see if they would work.

Code: [Select]
DavisGetLOOP - data changed
DavisGetLPS2 - data changed
DavisGetHiLows - data no changed
WL.com:
Davis Packet Number: 2
wl6.weatherlink.com1 54.172.164.1

Connection time: 270
WL.COM PACKET NR.: 2 OK!!!

Enjoy,
Paul

mine is setup as "WL IP" - and it connects just fine... if not you may want to check your firewall to make sure it's not blocking connections to Weatherlink. (this may be different for other people and situations though)

I think it was another thread, but it will not work while connecting to another software package like "weewx" (at least not reliably).
If you want to do everything from wifilogger you would need to setup MQTT to send to another software package (ex: weewx), which is what I do. You can setup "weewx" (and other software) to send the data to weather link, and just let weewx & wifilogger connect directly. hope that makes sense.

As of now weatherlink 6.0.3 is receiving and storing data from wifilogger . This is what I needed most but weatherlink.com bulletin is not.

Hi,
WiFiLogger should be able to upload to Weatherlink.com, but since you are also using WeatherlinkPC 6.0.3 it can also upload to Weatherlink.com.

From Weatherlink 6.0.3 Settings > Weatherlink Network and fill in Device ID and Key
and Settings > tick Network Upload (on if ticked)

Enjoy,
Paul

It won't let me open weatherlink network.
The only reason I need to be connected to weatherlink.com is to use the weatherlink cellphone app. If there's a better cellphone app I wouldn't need to be connected to weatherlink.com

You seem to be making heavy weather of what should be a simple process: Couple of checks:

1. You do already have an account at weatherlink.com and know the user name and password? If so then there should be no problem logging into the account at weatherlink.com.

2. You either had a WeatherlinkIP logger previously and are reusing the Device ID and key from that in the WFL settings? Or you are going to emulate uploading via local Weatherlink software using a USB or serial logger connection. In this case you will need to follow the Add Device pathway from your weatherlink.com account and receive a virtual Device ID and key for this type of upload in the wFL settings. You must choose one or the other approach and enter the appropriate account settings into weatherlink.com when setting up the station.

Takes a lot of words to describe, but the actual process is quite simple.

Weatherlink.com cannot accept the data uploads from the WFL if there is not already a station set up at weatherlink.com to match the upload credentials.

Do you have internet settings enabled?
My settings all show and work, and I have internet settings enabled.  I think these are different functions but just wondering if that is related.

Maybe a question for Davis Support.

p.s. Still wondering what your WiFiLogger debug log indicates for Weatherlink.com upload?  I presume it shows your WU and CWOP uploads which you say are working?

Enjoy,
Paul

Thank ya'll for your support. The only reason for weatherlink.com is for the cellphone app. Weatherlink 6.0.5 does everything else. I just need to pick out a cell phone app for my station.
