Installing on new computer
« on: October 30, 2024, 11:38:54 AM »
I had to replace an old desktop computer I was running Cumulus weather program on. I know it was an older version installed in 2019.  I am trying to install CumulusMX on new computer. I installed the .net program. I am unable to get the program to install. Do I have to go back to an earlier version first. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I suggest you ask on the Cumulus forum where there are loads of folks who can help. Bottom line is no you don't need to install v3 first . I suggest you post full details of what you have done and details of the PC hardware and OS plus your weather station on there as well.

You will want to install .NET 8 on your PC first.  Here was a thread on how to do that from a PowerShell script in Windows.

Once you have .NET 8 installed, all you should have to do is transfer over the CumulusMX folder to the new PC and run it.  Then check your connection of Cumulus to your weather station.  Not sure if you have TCP/IP connection or serial port...

My old hard drive got corrupt. That is why I had to start from scratch. After reading and reading some more, I finally got everything installed and running. Thanks for the replies.
