Good cloud detection hardware compatible with Weather-Display
« on: August 06, 2024, 09:16:26 AM »
What is the collective wisdom to integrate cloud detection/sky observation hardware into Weather-Display (mac)?  I finally got my Davis Instruments VP2, Weatherflow Tempest (lightning strike detection) and Purpleair Air Quality monitor.  I want to add cloud detection.

I need the following but can't find everything and my initial research can't find it.

--Solar powered (its going to be on my ham radio tower and a power cable would be difficult but not impossible).
--Wireless data transmission to an internal IP hub compatible with W-D
--Allows me to add cloud detection only (I have all other weather data already coming into W-D)

Does this exist in one package.  I found a good device but it requires direct connection to a PC.  I am using a mac (a PC is available if required) but its in the basement, hence an IP device is preferrable.

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by cloud detection? Percentage cover (octa equivalent), or inverse of sunshine during the day, maybe high cloud vs low cloud (ceilometer type thing)? It could mean many things.

Sorry for not being specific.  As an astronomer with an outside telescope, cloud cove (percent cover)

Thanks for any suggestions.
