ws-2315/Heavy weather
« on: January 14, 2017, 11:05:17 PM »
I have a WS-2315 and a Heavy Weather software program that has worked for many years with my Windows XP desktop.  Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the software several times the H/W screen on my computer remains grayed out and will not display currant info.  Any Ideas??

sometimes the serial chip on this weather station console is known to just simply die
and so the only solution is a new console

Try plugging and unplugging the RJ-11 phone type plug on the serial cable going into the console several times. Be sure the other end (DB-9 connector) is screwed in tight. I assume you checked in HW the setup comm port settings already (9600, 8, 1, none). Check on the PC's "Device Manager" / "Ports" for errors.

Does anyone know how to wire up the RJ11 to db9 cable for the WS-2317 weather station.?

I have the old ws-3610 serial RJ11 to db9 cable but does not work on this. I had an old WS-3610 station
before the display went bad and now using the backup WS-2317 model. If I can rewire the pins on that RJ11
I can get it to work I hope.

Thanks!
