Inland High Altitude Superior Mirage ? What is this ! ?
(1/1)
Ward:
I caught a photo of an inland superior mirage (not supposed to happen) that appeared atop a local cloud layer , I took a photo . It's a projection of a landscape likely hundreds or even thousands of miles away. Because of the vast distance between myself and that location, the image is distorted worse in the atmospheric projection.
The cloud layer is thousands of feet in the air. (unusual height for a SM)
I am located right smack in the middle of Ottawa Ontario Canada, roughly 400 to 500 miles away from the ocean, my camera is pointing 329 degrees NW.

Zooming in you can see a large white and red roofed house or barn like structure with a dome atop of it, it may even be an observatory. You can see several trees and other objects that are hard to make out. I was sitting in my chair watching the sunset and saw this just appear, took a second to think, WTF, then pulled out my phone zoomed a bit and snapped a shot. Realizing the wires were in the way I attempted to respostion for a 2nd shot to avoid them, by the time I had myself in position it vanished. So all I have to offer is this one photo.
