Joseph40:
I was wondering if anyone knows of a free online forecasting
courses that NWS will accept? All I know is Florida has a college
it is near Gainsville or Jacksonsville called Florida State University
and I would like to further my education and maybe become a forecaster.

For free online courses, you could do the JetStream course that the NWS provides for free. It is full of plenty of material, and I personally think it has been very helpful! 8-)

There's also some other course that offers education in a number of subjects. For example, it offers online Skywarn training which is accepted by some NWS offices. I can't remember what the name of the website is, but someone else will probably know what I am talking about. If not, I'll look it up and edit this post when I find out what it is called.
EDIT: I believe it might be called Met-Ed? I'll look it up later and see if that is the right name.

If you are looking to work there, there are no free courses that are accepted.
