You don't have a GW1000. It won't work with the HP2551 display console. Only the GW1000 will upload to Ecowitt.net. Good news is you can add a GW1000 and gain Ecowitt.net upload capability.

UPDATE: GW1000 now isn't the only device to upload to Ecowitt.net. Now the HP2551 also uploads to Ecowitt.net. But only the GW1000 has the local network API for other software.

I can confirm that there is a new version of firmware for the HP2550/1 console in test that will include the upload to Ecowitt.net.
I don't have a timescale but hopefully not long.

Galfert is correct though at the moment the HP2550/1 will only upload to WU and the other web services but not ecowitt.net for now.

According to Lucy, the timescale is apparenyl mid-end May unfortunately. Where did you people get your GW1000 from?

I got mine directly from Ecowitt as a review item with the PM2.5 sensor. You can order from Amazon (at least you can in the US) or you can order directly from Ecowitt. If you need a specific frequency since are in the UK, I would suggest ordering directly from Ecowitt so that you can specify your frequency.

I got the GW1000, PM2.5, and soil moisture sensors (915 MHz) from Amazon.  Since I have a Prime account it was only two days to get them.

Ecowitt HP2550A (IGUILDFO67)
Ecowitt GW-1000 (IGUILDFO68)
Ecowitt WH0291 Soil Moisture Sensor
Ecowitt WH041 PM2.5 AQM Sensor

Using the GW-1000, does WU log the data for the Soil Moisture Sensor into a table or it it lost?

No, WU only display the current value, it doesn't log it.

If you want the data you would need to set the GW1000 to connect to the Ecowitt site.

Agreed, just checked my WU site taking data from the Gw-1000 and whilst it does show the current/live soil moisture data level it does not tabulate it as a record.

If you are uploading to ecowitt.net then this data is recorded and can be referenced/graphed as needed.

I provided some feedback to Ecowitt to utilize Content Delivery Network technology for faster Internet service as their site was very slow most of the time (at least slow from the US). They have now implemented Alibaba Cloud as their CDN. Very much like Cloudfare or Amazon CloudFront. A CDN distributes your website globally so that your website can gain performance no matter where the content is being delivered to. The improvement is huge. By the way Ambient Weather uses Cloudflare as of a few months ago.

I just installed the soil monitor yesterday...it showed up in just a few seconds. I did notice that the website was pretty slow and the mobile version had issues but it does seem to have improved. The Gw-1000 is much nicer than the AcuRite Access and so much cheaper.

GW1000 New Firmware: 1.4.5

1. Added notifications function for firmware update when opening the app.
2. Fixed the low battery indicator error for the PM2.5 sensor.
3. Changed the uploading interval from 30s to 16s for WU.

Ecowitt keeps knocking it out of the park and listening to submitted feedback. There is still a long list of other items I've submitted (nothing critical, just feature improvements), but this is good and they are working hard.

Thanks for the info on the update galfert.  The low battery indication was bugging me.  I almost sent the PM2.5 back because I thought it was defective.
Getting it to report to WU in 16 seconds is also nice.

Where does someone submitt suggestions to?  I got a couple I would like to see for the web site/app.

1. Alerting for GW1000/Weather sensor not connecting/offline.
2. Soil moisture level alert.
3. Particulate level alert.

Is there any easy way to scrape the data from the GW1000 to run it with Weewx on a Pi?

There is a protocol available to read back data from GW1000. However ecowitt is making an more common API with Jason format. If people are really interested, it is possible to contact Ecowitt for further detail.

Very interesting...

I have been trying to make the HP1000 Shell script that's been written to read data from the HP1000 work with the GW-1000.
I figured its probably same data format but just different port to read.
So far no luck though Its more down to the fact that my rusty Linux skills are stopping me from making the script execute on my Rasp Pi!
It must be possible since the android app reads live data direct from the Gw-1000

There will be a website API for ecowitt.net by about July.

Then when that is up and running they will do an API for the GW-1000.

So that is a reasonable effort on their part.

Having APIs will really boost their kit.

I received my kit from Amazon, while I was gone.  Today I am trying to set it up.  I started with the GW1000 and it is connected to my wifi, it wants me to register, but keeps asking for Lat & Long, but no place to enter it.  The version it updated to is GW1000B_V1.4.5.

Anyone else running into this?

Ecowitt.net registration is not very intuitive. The location gets entered via map. But then when the map location gets translated to Latitude and Longitude numbers. But unless they have updated it recently the numbers had too many decima places unnecessarily. So what I would recommend is to edit the numbers and stop at 6 decimal places.

Thanks for the reply...

Using Chrome,

I do not even see a map, I get to where you enter name of unit, address, no map appears.  I finish enter the rest of the information and it give the error for entering Lat & Long.

I have tried it in IE as well, in IE keeps reverting to China language and will not login.

You can use your phone to find the long: lat value, and then enter them here in case map is not popped up.

Your chrome is windows based browser or you have a  google chrome book?
