Just got back from downtown took a snapshot. Somethings you have to drive for no matter what like Margaritas. Camera cleans it up some but very low visibility, 5°F and winds gusting to 40mph.

Why measuring off snowboard doesn't always work. This is just a couple inches of snow, check the yard out from 1" to 19".
Our wind has been approaching 40 mph all day. Current temperature 3°. Now, who in their right mind would trade this beautiful weather for sunny Florida?

The forecast low is -14 by NWS. It's -1 currently at 9:35 pm with lots of wind. If or when the wind stops I can see -20's. To break a record around here Jan. you have to be near -30's so this is just another day in paradise. Maybe I should take my daughters advice and move to Alaska.

Will Mom usher in the New Year with some natural fireworks?

"outlook from the Storm Prediction Center concerning the severe weather potential on Monday. Damaging winds will be the primary hazard, but flash flooding and a couple of tornadoes will also be possible. "

68 for the high, wind damage around the area, almost an inch of rain 'official' but I got more than that.

woke up to a brisk -2 this morning. -29 below yesterday. and wind chill. Sunny.

But will warm up again this week.

We have snow and ice on side roads. We need some sun to get rid of it.

WOW -29 is getting down there.

We only managed -8, winds stayed up and didn't get the radiational cooling needed to dip much colder.

Not in your league this far south. Between clouds and wind, lowest here was +10, WC averaging -6.

Warm up coming!

Then-there is the annual ice dive on Lake Minnetonka. Yes-people pay to jump in the lake on NYD.

Long time tradition in Boston also. Water is likely a bit warmer. Saltier too.

December ended up 4.5 to the good side with no measurable snow accumulation.  Officially only 'T' for the month.  6.5 inches of rain though, an inch too much.

Thursday, 1/3/19, has been a day for bad winter weather in Oklahoma.  Much of central and southwestern Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, has picked up some snow.   However, it's interesting how in parts of north Oklahoma, such as Enid and Stillwater, the temp has been 32 or 33 since late this morning, so it's been freezing rain or sleet, no snow. So my rain gauge didn't freeze up and kept on recording, which is now around a half inch. Photo of radar shows what I mean. There has been some ice accumulation on trees in Stillwater. At least one of them fell on a house. Fortunately, power outages have hardly been spotty and not widespread. https://oms.stillwater.org/OMSWebMap/OMSWebMap.htm?clientKey=undefined

I knew it wasn't my imagination about this season. At least it stopped today, been to 67F so far. =D>

CLIMATE...Thursday was the 9th consecutive day with the high
temperature being cooler than 60 degrees in Tucson. This is the
longest such streak since 11 consecutive days from late December
1982 to early January 1983 and tied for the 13th longest such
streak since 1895.

Nice day here, too — and a big turnaround.  It was 28 below New Year’s Day morning, and this afternoon, Jan. 4, we reached 42 above, a 70-degree difference.

Please send some arctic air to south Florida soon!  The hot weather here to begin the year is very unwelcome and ridiculous.  I know it is south Florida but the temperatures so far this month are more typical of October

JAN 1 High 81.5F, JAN 2 High 81.9F, JAN 3 High 84.0F, JAN4 High 83.5F

The average temperature so far this winter is 69.7F

CPC is crystal balling 'warm-ish' until about the 19th, then 'cool-ish' into February.

Guess we'll see.
