I had a quick look at the How-To for MeteoPi. Seems straightforward. Soon will have all items for webcam equipped module.

Needs the SD Card as appropriate.

How easy is it to get MeteoBridge to pick it up like it did the WFL?

You having roadblocks getting it going? I can run through what worked for me.

Yep, failed the course... couldn't quite understand on the right operating system for Pi and install that so as to use CumulusMX.  May give it another shot in the winter when locked up in the house.

I followed the guide here, two parts:

The command with "tee" in it I'm not sure it completed. I went to the next steps anyway.

There was a thing in above about using FTP to get Cumulus Folder onto the Pi. I don't see why.

I downloaded Cumulus from link on Wiki page. Unzipped it to directory as indicated.

I did run through the seven commands in the first guide. Not sure if the commands in the second guide would work or not.

I installed full 2.5GB install using the installer App:

I made my SD card using that App. Then started the Mono and Cumulus process.

Serial port was as the guide says, /dev/ttyS0

I need to make camera work. Then set it in window running headless.

Not sure that there's any real difference between SD cards and USB sticks - they tend to have much the same flash memory inside. So there's good and bad USB, including industrial USB of course (but $$$), much the same as good and bad SD. In general there's absolutely no point in getting high-speed SD - that's more for cameras than Pi's, but High Endurance/Durability SD very much recommended.

Actually now that the Pi4 has easy USB booting and access (but may need an update to do so) it's quite cheap nowadays to use a USB3 to SATA adapter (eg $10) and an SSD - should be able to find a reputable make like Kingston in 120 or 240GB for $30. This is easiest with a Pi4 (for the USB3) but may be possible with older Pi's too.

I have literally dozens and dozens of flash drives and SD cards and trust me, there are good and bad.  WAY more SD cards die on me than flash drives. The Pi4 offers new choices, but for the older models I still say good SD and/or USB boot.

Trust me, much the same broad range of flash chips is used in both SD and USB sticks and you can have durable or flakey examples of either. Why do think Meteobridge Pro moved quickly to Industrial grade USB so quickly after launch? The initial good quality but non-industrial USB sticks just weren't robust to the very frequent small write patterns of usage in a weather computer. That was a few years ago now of course and the newer 3D NAND flash and high endurance flash designs are definitely a move to better endurance, but the principle is still there.

I added to the crontab so Cumulus executes on Boot.

There's a few other ways to use MeteoPi.

What's the best way to lay some live Wx data onto an image and make it available on Web?

It was my first thought. Get station from Console to MeteoPj to Pi .....  Pi WiFi out to MeteoBridge.

I had basically zero knowledge starting out. I stumbled on/Googled most of what I have done so far. I know Cumulus can do many things. I won't start any web upload until new pole with anemometer is erected. Learning software etc now.

And I messed around with WeeWX yesterday. Now to figure out a nicer skin. The little dots on the graphs are nearly impossible to see.
