Topic: Ecowitt HP2551 WS69 only showing wind and direction.

Bought new in January 2023 and it worked great until last night. Wind and direction still report but Temp/Humidity/UV/Lux do not. Indoor temp and humidity also work. The indoor unit shows full bars to both WS69 and indoor temp unit. I tried power cycling the display panel and also moving it closer to the WS69. I also tried the reset button on the WS69. Any suggestions as to what I could try?

Edit to add: I did not replace the batteries in the WS69 because they were new lithiums 1 month ago and it is transmitting the wind info and the low battery indicator is not lit on the HP2551.

That's just an idea.
It is unlikely that the batteries are empty and the wind values are still transmitted. On the other hand, it is also unusual for both the light and T/H sensors to fail at the same time.
I have read about failed sensors on several occasions. But I am not aware of this in combination.

If changing the battery does not help either, a hard reset of the WS69 would probably be a last resort.
However, you should already ask Ecowitt for help - i.e. describe the problem.

I just had a thought, I don't know the WS69 but on my WS80 if the temp/humidity sensor fails it stops the light/solar sensor from working. Could it be the same on the WS69? Can the temp/hum sensor be unplugged to see if the light returns?

Are you uploading to Ecowitt.net or other service, that would allow you to identify when this happened what the conditions were like? May not give you anything useful but worth a gander.

Edit, you might also be able to see if you had dropouts leading up to the this event

the first thing to do in such a situation is to make a reset of the array
1. soft reset = pressing the reset button at the array by the help of a staple end
if this fails, do a
2. hard reset = taking the batteries out and covering the solar panel tightly by black tape and wait until the array stops transmitting and its LED, usually blinking every 16 seconds, stops blinking. This can take up to 72 hours.
Once the LED is off and no more data is received by the console, re-insert the batteries.
Only if this still fails, contacting Ecowitt makes sense - as they will first suggest the same procedure

Thanks for all the responses everyone, Ecowitt support replied to my email saying they are sending me a new array. If they do not require the other one back maybe I will perform an autopsy on it and post what I find here.

Kwaj, I live several miles from the salt water and and we not have storms severe enough to drive any salt spray this far in land.
