Topic: WS-90 Mounting

I recently purchased the HP2564 and am having trouble with mounting the WS-90. The manual says that the hole, or socket for the pole will accept a pole with a maximum OD of 1 inch. However, after buying an antenna mount with a 1 inch OD (confirmed by measuring) it is too large.

I read another thread (my apologies, I am having issues finding this thread, otherwise I would link to it) where someone mentioned having success with an AcuRite mounting bracket - https://www.acurite.com/shop-all/weather-instruments/weather-sensors-and-parts/replacement-parts/5-in-1-sensor-replacement-mounting-bracket-5n1mb.html however I am in Canada and AcuRite wants $US34.99 to ship a $US8.99 part.

When I look inside the hole I see threading (images attached), but attached inside that mounting is another piece of plastic. It seems like it might be able to be removed, but I think I would have to break it to get it out. Is this piece of plastic normal? If so, what OD pole would fit?

Hi!

Unscrew the outer ring from the WS90 and put it on the pole. Then put the WS90 on the pole and fasten the ring again.
The sleeve of the WS90 can be spread slightly - the ring ensures that the WS90 sits firmly around the pole.

the piece which is around the inner piece can be unscrewed.
then you can put the cable inside using one of the slits.
The part which comes free after unscrewing is flexible, so you can put the pole inside.
best to use a completely hollow pole/pipe and have the power supply run inside
(if you use it, but at least to protect the short cable and the connector).
The unscrewed part goes over the pole/pipe before inserting it into the array.
Then you fix the array to the pole/pipe by turning the screwing part back.
Makes sense ?

Where are you located? if in the US , a schedule 40 , galvanized, 3/4 inch as called on the shelf, fits perfect. As Canada and the US have used the same standardized pipe size, although converted to metric in Canada , you should be able to pick one up at the local HW store


And is what I use (the 3/4" is the interior dimension (ID), the outside is perfect.


And you can drop the cable (charging cable, if you use it) , straight down and not use the slits, which would be for an exterior mounted cable.

Also a side note, as I experienced this, don't crank down on the exterior nut too much, crank it down just enough that it stops the unit from moving. I apparently , over cranked one, and a very hard time removing it later , which you may have to do. I ended up cracking the plastic nut as I was getting ticked off during the removal process, but not bad enough to prevent re-use.

Had I broken the nut, I would have just used a tubing clamp instead.

Thank you for the additional tips Rover1822. I will definitely keep tightening the exterior nut too much in mind. The issue with most stores up here, including HW stores, is selection and variety, but I'm sure I'll be able to find something if needed. Thanks again.
