Title: Web Updates from HP2551 console
Post by: Rocketman on February 18, 2023, 08:54:38 PM
How many people are updating websites from the HP2551 console ?
Updating Wunderground and ecowitt every 5 minutes works fine
Any negatives for updating this way ?

I did for about 3 years and works fine.

But recently switched to a GW2000 which is more powerfull and has a separate WiFi processor and UTP-port (= more stable).

The new hardware revision of the HP2551 being sold since mid-2022 has a new WiFi modem and might be more stable than the predecessor versions. Of course the GW2000 has a WLAN SoC and a stronger processor - no doubt.
The new revision of the HP2551 console can be recognized with its WiFi firmware - it is EasyWeatherPro 5.1.1 (latest FW) instead of EasyWeather 1.8.7 (latest FW).

I have one of the newer modems and it seems to work fine with no hiccups. Currently sending to Ecowitt, WU and PWSWeather.

if you have just an outdoor array, the payload will be rather small - however, the more extra sensors you have (type and number), the bigger the payload gets
the custom server will usually add 100% of the Ecowitt cloud post (with Ecowitt protocol, with WU protocol maybe 80-90%).
